Gold futures rise marginally to Rs 28,311; silver up at Rs 42,667 per kg

Gold prices rose 0.06 per cent to Rs 28,311 per 10 grams at the futures trading today as speculators enlarged positions amid a firm trend overseas.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October moved up by Rs 17 or 0.06 per cent to Rs 28,311 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 265 lots.

Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in far-month December traded higher by Rs 18 or 0.06 per cent to Rs 28,356 per 10 grams in 8 lots.

Analysts said a firm trend in the global market supported the upside in gold prices at the futures trade here.

Meanwhile in Singapore, the yellow metal traded higher at $1,299.85 an ounce from $1,298.40 yesterday.

Silver futures

In a range-bound movement, silver prices edged higher by Rs 53 to Rs 42,667 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, tracking a firm global trend.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 53 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 42,720 per kg in a business turnover of 232 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month December traded higher by Rs 263 or 0.06 per cent to Rs 43,410 per kg in three lots.

Market analysts said better trend in the global market due to fresh positions built-up by speculators mainly pushed up silver prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver added 0.3 per cent to $19.68 an ounce in Singapore.
