Gold rose Rs 139 to Rs 27,306 per 10 grams at the futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend overseas.
Gold for delivery in February rose Rs 139 or 0.51 per cent to Rs 27,309 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 314 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month April was also trading higher by Rs 119 or 0.44 per cent to Rs 27,213 per 10 grams in two lots.
Analysts said widening of bets by speculators, tracking a firm global trend, mainly supported the upside in gold prices at the futures trade here.
Globally, gold inched up 0.28 per cent to $1,141.509 an ounce in New York yesterday.
