Gold prices were trading up by Rs 82 to Rs 29,286 per 10 grams at the futures trade as speculators took fresh positions on positive cues from global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December was up Rs 82 or 0.28 per cent at Rs 29,286 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 14 lots.
The metal for delivery in October was also trading higher by Rs 54 or 0.19 per cent at Rs 29,230 per 10 grams in a turnover of 534 lots.
Analysts said a firm trend in global market as geopolitical tensions between the US and North Korea remained, raising the appeal for precious metals as a safe-haven, influenced the gold prices at the futures trade here.
Globally, gold rose 0.70 per cent to $1,285.80 an ounce in New York today.
