Gold prices rose Rs 40 to Rs 29,374 per 10 grams at the futures trade as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from global markets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February was trading up Rs 40 or 0.14 per cent at Rs 29,374 per 10 grams in a trade volume of 111 lots. The metal for delivery in December moved up Rs 34 or 0.12 per cent to Rs 29,257 per 10 grams in a turnover of 361 lots.
Market analysts said that the rise in precious metals at the global market mainly influenced gold prices at the futures trade here. Meanwhile, gold edged up 0.01 per cent to $1,283.50 an ounce in Singapore today.
