Gold prices rose 0.26 per cent to Rs 29,465 per 10 grams at the futures trade as speculators raised their bets, tracking a firm trend overseas.
Gold for delivery in February was trading higher by Rs 75 or 0.26 per cent at Rs 29,465 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 376 lots. Similarly, the metal for delivery in April was also trading higher by Rs 56 or 0.19 per cent at Rs 29,430 per 10 grams in 34 lots.
Analysts said speculators widened their bets tracking a firm global trend as the dollar's weakness boosted the demand for precious metals as a safe haven. Globally, gold inched up 0.54 per cent to $1,329.10 an ounce in Singapore.
