Gold rose Rs 89 to Rs 29,990 per 10 grams at the futures trading today as speculators enlarged their positions, tracking a firm trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in December spurted Rs 89 or 0.3 per cent to Rs 29,990 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 657 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month February next year was also trading higher by Rs 79 or 0.26 per cent to Rs 30,111 per 10 grams in 28 lots.
Market analysts said speculators widened their bets due to a firm global trend which influenced gold futures here.
Globally, gold climbed 0.53 per cent to $1,268.90 an ounce in New York.
