Gold futures on MCX opened higher at Rs 30,897 per 10 grams on Wednesday against Rs 30,869. The February contract made a high of Rs 30,934 and low of Rs 30,878. It was up 0.12 per cent at Rs 30,907 at 1.30 pm.
In Comex, the yellow metal for February delivery was down by $0.8 at $1683 a troy ounce at 1.30 pm.
The depreciation of rupee against dollar in the currency futures market has supported rise in gold prices.
