Gold futures rose Rs 61 to Rs 31,016 per 10 gram at the futures trading today as speculators widened positions, tracking a firm trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October was trading higher by Rs 61 or 0.2 per cent to Rs 31,016 per 10 gram in a business turnover of 323 lots.
Similarly, the metal for delivery in far-month December rose Rs 57 or 0.18 per cent to Rs 31,095 per 10 gram in 167 lots.
Market analysts said speculators enlarged their positions on the back of a firm global trend in precious metals and other commodities on weak dollar.
Globally, gold climbed as much as 0.26 per cent to $1,324.90 an ounce in Singapore.
