Gold rose Rs 70 to Rs 28,148 per 10 grams at the futures trade today as speculators enlarged their positions in tandem with a firming global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February rose Rs 70 or 0.25 per cent to Rs 28,148 per 10 grams with a business turnover of 1,769 lots. Likewise, April contract moved up by Rs 67 or 0.24 per cent to Rs 28,518 per 10 grams with a business turnover of 10,335 lots.
Market analysts attributed the rise in gold futures to a firming global trend.
Meanwhile, gold gained 0.4 per cent to $ 1,743.85 an ounce in London.
