Gold prices rose Rs 177 to Rs 26,977 per 10 grams at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions amid positive cues from global market.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in February was up by Rs 177 or 0.66 per cent at Rs 26,977 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 1,045 lots.
On similar lines, gold for delivery in February shot up by Rs 174 or 0.64 per cent to Rs 27,175 per kg in a turnover of 27 lots.
Analysts said the rise in gold prices in global market, where it rose to a one-month high on speculation that the US Federal Reserve will go slow in raising interest rates, influenced the prices of the precious metal at the futures trade here.
The yellow metal rose 0.4 per cent to $1,228.33 an ounce in Singapore.
