Gold prices fell 0.24 per cent to Rs 31,235 per 10 grams at the futures trade today as speculators locked-in gains at prevailing levels even as the metal strengthened overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October fell Rs 75 or 0.24 per cent to Rs 31,235 per 10 grams with a business turnover of 738 lots.
Similarly, the yellow metal for delivery in December lost Rs 74 or 0.23 per cent to Rs 31,561 per 10 grams with a business turnover of 131 lots.
Marketmen said gold futures fell as speculators offloaded their positions with a view to book profits at prevailing levels but the metal’s strength in the global market capped the losses.
Meanwhile, the yellow metal traded a shade higher at $1,754.30 an ounce in Singapore in early trade today.
