Silver prices surged Rs 161 to Rs 34,366 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators widened positions amid a firm trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month March next year rose Rs 161 or 0.47 per cent to Rs 34,366 per kg in a business turnover of 238 lots.
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in December was trading higher by Rs 103 or 0.31 per cent at Rs 33,583 per kg with a business volume of 42 lots.
Speculators widened positions tracking a firm trend overseas, as investors await more cues from the US, including interest rates and the November jobs report later this week.
In Singapore, silver climbed 0.75 per cent to $14.16 an ounce today.
