Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices rose 1.04 per cent to Rs 37,557 per kg at the futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May rose Rs 387 or 1.04 per cent to Rs 37,557 per kg in a business turnover of 60 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March gained Rs 325 or 0.88 per cent to Rs 37,105 per kg in 922 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants amid a firm trend in global markets mainly led to the rise in silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.65 per cent to $15.38 an ounce in Singapore.
