Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices drifted lower by 0.2 per cent to Rs 42,674 per kg at the futures trade as speculators trimmed their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July declined by Rs 85 or 0.2 per cent to Rs 42,674 per kg in a business turnover of 5 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in May traded lower by Rs 74 or 0.17 per cent at Rs 42,252 per kg in 300 lots.
Traders said the fall in silver prices at the futures trade was largely in line with a weak trend in precious metals at the global market.
Globally, silver fell 0.19 per cent to $18.19 an ounce in Singapore.
