Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices rose Rs 156 to Rs 42,350 per kg at the futures trade today as traders built up fresh positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December rose Rs 156 or 0.37 per cent to Rs 42,350 per kg in a business turnover of 714 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in March 2017 gained Rs 131 or 0.3 per cent to Rs 43,264 per kg in 32 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants amid a firm trend in global markets mainly led to the rise in silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.34 per cent to $17.65 an ounce in New York in yesterday’s trade.
