Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices dropped by 0.83 per cent to Rs 47,046 per kg at the futures trading today as participants cut down their bets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month December fell Rs 396 or 0.83 per cent to Rs 47,046 per kg in a business turnover of 4 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in September moved down by Rs 360 or 0.78 per cent to Rs 45,961 per kg in 610 lots.
Traders said the fall in silver prices at the futures trade was largely in tune with a weak trend in precious metals in global markets as buoyant equity markets and gains in the dollar hurt demand ahead of central bank meetings in the US and Japan this week.
Globally, silver fell 0.89 per cent to $19.41 an ounce in Singapore.
