Taking positive cues from overseas markets, silver prices rose by 0.70 per cent to Rs 42,735 per kg in futures market today as participants widened their bets.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far—month May rose by Rs 295, or 0.70 per cent, to Rs 42,735 per kg, in a business turnover of two lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in March moved up by Rs 284, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 42,173 per kg in 512 lots.
Traders said raising of bets by participants in tandem with a firm trend overseas mainly attributed the rise in silver prices at futures trade.
Globally, silver rose 0.49 per cent to USD 17.59 an ounce in Singapore.
