Silver prices rose Rs 60 to Rs 39,039 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators built up positions due to a firm global trend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March gained Rs 60 or 0.15 per cent to Rs 39,039 per kg in a business turnover of 407 lots. The white metal for delivery in May was trading up by Rs 26 or 0.07 per cent at Rs 39,540 per kg in two lots.

Analysts said speculators created fresh positions in tune with firm global trend, as the dollar weakened boosting demand for the precious metal as a safe-haven. Meanwhile, silver rose 0.24 per cent to $17.02 an ounce in Singapore.
