Tracking a firm trend overseas, silver prices were up by 0.18 per cent at Rs 39,150 per kg at the futures trade today on building up of fresh positions by traders.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in July rose Rs 71 or 0.18 per cent to Rs 39,150 per kg in a business turnover of 13,872 lots.
Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month September was trading higher by Rs 58 or 0.15 per cent to Rs 39,822 per kg in 781 lots.
Market analysts said fresh positions created by participants in line with a firm trend in global markets mainly influenced silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.31 per cent to $16.44 an ounce in New York yesterday.
