Silver prices went up by Rs 915 to Rs 40,960 per kg at the futures trade today on the back of an uptrend in precious metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May traded notably higher by Rs 915 or 2.28 per cent at Rs 40,960 per kg in a business turnover of 1,991 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month July rose Rs 914 or 2.25 per cent to Rs 41,450 per kg in 47 lots.
Analysts said speculative positions built up by participants tracking a firm trend in precious metals despite the US Fed rate hike by a quarter percentage point supported the upside in silver prices here.
Meanwhile, silver rose as much as 0.55 per cent to trade at $17.42 an ounce in Singapore today.
