Tracking a firm trend in precious metals overseas, silver prices soared by Rs 413 to Rs 45,237 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators widened their positions.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in December surged by Rs 413 or 0.92 per cent to Rs 45,237 per kg in a business turnover of 1,041 lots.
The white metal for delivery in September was trading higher by Rs 368 or 0.84 per cent at Rs 44,348 per kg in 1,982 lots.
Market analysts said speculative position built up by participants, driven by firm global trend, mainly attributed to the rise in silver prices at the futures trade here.
Meanwhile, silver surged 0.89 per cent to $18.72 an ounce in Singapore.
