Silver prices went up by Rs 455 to trade at Rs 37,425 per kg at the futures trade today as participants indulged in enlarging positions amid a firm trend in precious metals overseas.
Silver for delivery in September was up by Rs 455 or 1.23 per cent at Rs 37,425 per kg at the Multi Commodity Exchange in a business turnover of 16,946 lots.
Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month December spurted Rs 394 or 1.05 per cent to Rs 38,011 per kg in 110 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by speculators in line with a firm trend in global markets supported the upside in silver prices at the futures trade.
Meanwhile, silver was up 0.53 per cent at $16.20 an ounce in Singapore.
