Silver prices rose 0.12 per cent to Rs 40,128 per kg at the futures trade as speculators built up fresh positions amid a firm trend overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in far-month July was trading higher by Rs 49 or 0.12 per cent at Rs 40,128 per kg in business turnover of 201 lots.
Marketmen attributed the rise in silver prices at the futures trade to fresh positions created by participants, tracking a firm trend in global markets. Meanwhile, silver rose 0.30 per cent to $16.52 an ounce in Singapore.
