Silver futures up at Rs 42,510 per kg

Silver prices went up by Rs 88 to Rs 42,510 per kg at the futures trade today as speculators widened positions amid a firm trend in precious metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in March traded higher by Rs 88 or 0.21 per cent at Rs 42,510 per kg in a business turnover of 460 lots.

Likewise, the white metal for delivery in far-month May was trading higher by Rs 82 or 0.19 per cent at Rs 43,038 per kg in 8 lots.

Market analysts said speculative positions built up by participants, tracking a firm global trend, supported the upside in silver prices at the futures trade.

Meanwhile, silver rose as much as 0.31 per cent to trade at $17.85 an ounce in Singapore today.
