Gold prices fell 0.34 per cent to Rs 29,832 per 10 grams at the futures trade as participants cut down their bets amid a weak global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold prices for delivery in October were trading lower by Rs 101 or 0.34 per cent at Rs 29,832 per 10 grams in a business turnover of 787 lots. On similar lines, the metal for delivery in December declined by Rs 100 or 0.33 per cent to Rs 29,999 per 10 grams in 17 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in prices to trimming of positions by participants due to a weak trend overseas. Strengthening of equities and the dollar's gains against major currencies eroded demand for precious metals.
Meanwhile, gold was trading 0.31 per cent down at $1,322.90 an ounce in Singapore today.
