The capital goods sector was in limelight today with L&T being the biggest gainer up by about 4 per cent about two hours into the day’s trading.
Alstom T&D and SKF were the only losers, though marginally. Many of the capital goods sector gainers too posted modest gains only.
ABB gained Rs 10.80 at Rs 740.95, BHEL which was under pressure because of predictions of losing a huge chunk of orders over the coal issue, gained Rs 3.50 at Rs 204.25, Alstom India Ltd jumped by Rs 7.85 at Rs 375.50, Havells India was up by Rs 7.20 at 580.95, Thermax gained Rs 9 to Rs 500 and Bharat Electronics was up by Rs 11.45 at Rs 1,187.20.
But the star of the Capital Goods show was L&T which zoomed by Rs 55.75 at Rs 1,473.60.
The losers were: Alstom T&D down by Rs 1.75 at Rs 177.50 and SKF which shed Rs 3.40 at Rs 645.
Siemens that was under some selling pressure after the German promoters divested a small stake was up by Rs 6.10 at Rs 674.
