Reliance Industries Ltd has slipped to fourth position in the list of top-10 most valued companies of the country in terms of their market valuation, with TCS at the top of chart, followed by ONGC and ITC.
RIL, which once used to be the most valued company in the country, came behind ITC in the ranking of top-10 companies last week.
ITC commanded a market capitalisation of Rs 2,61,353 crore. This was about Rs 2,108 crore more than RIL’s m-cap of Rs 2,59,245 crore.
TCS market cap stood at Rs 2,77,680 crore, while ONGC commanded a value of Rs 2,77,283 crore.
In the ranking of top—10 companies, TCS was at the top position, followed by ONGC, ITC, RIL, CIL, HDFC Bank, SBI, Infosys, HDFC and NTPC.
Software major Tata Consultancy Services had on Friday became the country’s most valued firm, pushing ONGC to second spot.
Meanwhile, the combined market valuation of top-five Sensex entities surged Rs 30,978 crore last week, where TCS emerged as the biggest winner.
Market cap (m-cap) of TCS soared by Rs 9,894 crore to Rs 2,77,680 crore, while ITC’s value jumped Rs 9,325 crore to Rs 2,61,353 crore.
Infosys added Rs 5,484 crore to Rs 1,32,522 crore in its m-cap, while NTPC’s value shot-up by Rs 3,670 crore to Rs 1,31,309 crore and RIL’s value zoomed by Rs 2,605 crore to Rs 2,59,245 crore.
In contrast, SBI lost Rs 4,899 crore to Rs 1,48,740 crore in its m-cap, while mortgage lender HDFC’s value plunged Rs 2,723 crore to Rs 1,31,938 crore.
The m-cap of HDFC Bank slipped Rs 1,926 crore to Rs 1,61,945 crore, Coal India’s value dipped Rs 727 crore to Rs 2,00,828 crore and ONGC shed Rs 214 crore to Rs 2,77,283 crore.
The cumulative losses of these five companies stood at Rs 10,489 crore.
The BSE benchmark Sensex last week rose by 1.5 per cent to end the week at 19,575.64.
