Asian stocks jumped on Wednesday led by surge in US manufacturing and strong company earnings despite turmoil in Egypt.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 rose 188.58 points or 1.84 per cent to 10,463.08. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng surged 426.01 points or 1.81 per cent to 23,908.96. Singapore’s Straits Times was up 27.77 points or 0.87 per cent at 3,212.51. Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 gained 43.8 points or 0.92 per cent to 4,795.90.
New Zealand’s NZX 50 was up 3.84 points or 0.11 per cent at 3,352.30. Thailand’s SET rose 10.21 points or 1.06 per cent to 969.90. Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Composite climbed 11.88 points or 0.78 per cent to 1,531.82. Indonesia’s Jakarta Composite jumped 41.84 points or 1.22 per cent to 3,484.34.
South Korea, China and Taiwan’s stock markets are closed on account of Pre-Lunar New Year.
