The shares of GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd hit a new low on Friday closing at Rs 9.40, down 5 per cent on the BSE.
The infrastructure sector shares are under pressure as the going has become tough in the market place.
The diversified infra sector group based out of Hyderabad, and several other companies, such as Lanco Infratech and GMR, who have gas-based power projects under their portfolio, have been impacted by inadequate supply of gas from the Krishna Godavari basin for their plants located in Andhra Pradesh.
The drop in gas supply has resulted in lower plant load factor. This may also lead to pressure on margins.
