Hero MotoCorp made rapid gains during the second half of the session to emerge the top gainer on the BSE by the close. At 3.30 pm it held gains of 2.97 per cent at ₹2,517. The stock had closed yesterday’s session at ₹2,444.35.
TCS, which was lifted by robust Q1 numbers released yesterday, was trading off its morning highs at ₹2,448. The stock had ended yesterday's session at ₹2,381.10. This represented a gain of 2.81 per cent.
TCS reported a 45 per cent growth in the first quarter at ₹5,568 crore. Net revenue rose 22.9 per cent to ₹22,111 crore (₹17,987 crore).
Axis Bank traded up 2.26 per cent at ₹1,999.10. The stock had closed yesterday’s session at ₹1,954.95.
Another private sector lender ICICI Bank was up 2.09 per cent at ₹1,479. The stock closed Thursday’s session at ₹1,448.70.
Wipro also trimmed part of its morning gains to trade at ₹547. The stock had ended the previous session at ₹537.85. This represented a gain of 1.70 per cent.
