Banking and IT stocks were the predominant gainers on the NSE by the close of trading on Friday. However, Hindalco Industries traded firm to emerge the top gainer by the close. At 3.25 pm it held gains of 2.28 per cent at ₹181.90. The stock had ended the previous session at ₹177.85.
State Bank of India was quoting at ₹2,522. This represented a gain of 2.20 per cent on its previous close at ₹2,467.80.
HDFC Bank made further ground to trade at ₹845.95. This was a gain of 1.72 per cent on Thursday’s close at ₹831.65.
Infosys rode up 1.64 per cent at ₹3,601 as against ₹3,542.95 at close on Thursday.
TCS gained 1.11 per cent to trade at ₹2,458.95. The stock had ended yesterday’s session at ₹2,431.95.
