While the BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty indices slipped into the red after about two hours of trading, the Bank Nifty was solidly in positive territory, up by about 107 points at 9,589 today.
The biggest gainers were SBI and ICICI Bank, though SBI had slipped from the morning high price of Rs 1,933.95. The only laggards were IDBI, Axis Bank and Bank of India.
State Bank was trading around Rs 1,896.70, a gain of Rs 24.65 and ICICI Bank was trading at Rs 881.70, a gain of Rs 22. Canara Bank at Rs 459.30, Union Bank of India at Rs 250.30, Indusind Bank at Rs 260.80 and HDFC Bank at Rs 468.50 had made small gains.
