US private equity major Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co said on Monday it has hired Mr D.S. Brar, a former Director of the RBI, as a Senior Advisor in India.
In his new role, Mr Brar will also serve KKR's Asia portfolio management committee, which monitors all of KKR's private equity investments in the region, and provides guidance and input on the operations of the companies, the firm said in a statement. Mr Brar is on the board of other Indian and foreign companies.
From 2000 to 2007, Mr Brar served as a Director of Reserve Bank of India and was also a Member of the Inspection and Audit Sub-Committee of the Central Board of Directors of the RBI.
Mr Brar serves on the Boards of MphasiS Ltd - a subsidiary of Hewlett Packard, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd and Moksha8. He is also Special Advisor to the Board of Directors of Adamas Pharmaceuticals Inc and a consultant to Teva Pharmaceuticals, the statement said.
KKR had earlier this month hired Mr Dhiren Mehta, who was head of fixed-income institutional sales in India at Nomura, as a director in India.
