The Centre has recommended a provisional anti-dumping duty on import of hot-rolled steel products to reduce overseas purchases of the alloy and shield local mills. The duty will take effect after the government notifies the tax. The dumping duty is recommended on steel products from China, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Brazil and Indonesia. Steelmakers such as SAIL, JSW Steel and Tata Steel may benefit from the move.
