Avantel has informed the BSE that it has been granted a patent by the government for an invention — Integrated Ultra High Frequency System (Satcom & Line of Sight) for Voice and Data Communication to work with Indian satellites. The patent licence is for a term of 20 years commencing from September 30, 2009, the company said in a notification to the stock exchanges on Thursday. Shares of Avantel surged 10.98 per cent at ₹140 on the BSE.
