Larsen & Toubro was on a roll in the markets on Wednesday morning. At 11.34 am it was the top gainer on the NSE as well, trading at Rs 1,608.05. This represented a gain of 2.31 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 1,571.70.
Asian Paints spurted 2.09 per cent to trade at Rs 839.40. The share had closed Tuesday’s session at Rs 822.20.
Power Grid Corporation charged up 1.96 per cent to quote at Rs 147.95. The share had closed yesterday’s session at Rs 145.10.
Axis Bank traded up 1.89 per cent at Rs 564.60 as against Rs 554.10 at close overnight.
Coal India gained 1.86 per cent at Rs 375. The share ended the previous session at Rs 368.15.
The Sensex and the Nifty were trading in positive territory, propped up by value-buying and optimism about the forthcoming Budget. The Sensex was trading higher by nearly 140 points near the 28,500 mark, while the Nifty gained nearly 50 points to trade above the 8,600 level.
