Bajaj Auto held on to its firm undertone to emerge the top gainer on the NSE by close on Monday. It finished the session at Rs 2,269.15, up 2.06 per cent on last week’s close at Rs 2,223.30.
HCL Technologies made rapid strides to hold gains of 2.03 per cent at the close. It was trading at Rs 1,994.30 as against Rs 1,954.70 at close on Friday.
Dr Reddy’s was up 1.80 per cent at Rs 3,099.10 as against Rs 3,044.30 at close previously.
Sun Pharma edged up further to hold gains of 1.58 per cent at Rs 941.45. The share had finished the previous session at Rs 926.85.
ONGC traded firm to hold gains of 1.52 per cent at Rs 356.35 as against Rs 351 at close on Friday.
The benchmark indices the Sensex and the Nifty extended their losses for the seventh successive session on Monday. Exit poll projections of an electoral loss for the BJP in Delhi as well as concerns about the third quarter numbers of some companies weighed on the markets. The Sensex ended down 490 points or 1.71 per cent at 28,227.39. The Nifty tanked 134.70 points or 1.56 per cent to 8,526.35.
