The BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty ended the day up by 79 points and 23.45 points, respectively.
The Sensex closed at 17,185, while the Nifty closed at 5,216.
“It clearly indicates indecision in the market due to upcoming events like the presidential poll tomorrow, RBI policy on July 31 as well as results announcements by corporates. Global events also mark their impact on market sentiment,” said Ms Nidhi Saraswat, Senir Research Analyst, Bonanza Portfolio.
There were mixed cues in the Asian markets. European markets and American markets were up 0.11 per cent and 0.4, per cent respectively.
Top gainers on the BSE were Bajaj Auto, Tata Power and Jindal Steel, while the top losers were Tata Motors, Dr Reddy's Labs and NTPC.
