There was little respite for the bank stocks with the CNX Bank Nifty plunging deeper into the red for the second day today.
The NSE bank index, which shed close to 670 points yesterday, lost over 450 points in today's trading.
Bank of Baroda was the biggest loser at close of trade. It ended down at Rs 153.35 (-Rs 8.80 or -5.43%).
HDFC Bank lost ₹20.60 to end at ₹950, YES Bank was down by ₹26.60 at ₹794.45, Kotak Mahindra Bank shed ₹50.20 to ₹1,301 and Axis Bank finished at ₹526.10, a loss of ₹17.20. Both ICICI Bank and IndusInd Bank were down by less than ₹10 each.
Among the PSU banks, Canara Bank lost ₹12.85 to ₹354.60, Bank of India was down by ₹8.60 at ₹199.75, PNB shed ₹5.15 to close at ₹154.85 and SBI was ended down at ₹261, a loss of ₹4.40.
The banking index tanked 463.95 points or 2.61 per cent to 17,335.60.
