Banking sector scrips led the charge on the NSE on Wednesday morning. At 11.05 am the top gainer on the bourse was Bank of Baroda, trading at Rs 1,127.75 as against Rs 1,086.80 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 3.77 per cent.
Bharti Airtel, the top gainer on the BSE, was up 3.14 per cent on the NSE at Rs 366.05. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 354.90.
State Bank of India was trading at Rs 325.35. This was a gain of 2.26 per cent on its Tuesday close at Rs 318.15.
HDFC built gains of 1.94 per cent to trade at Rs 1,275.80 as against Rs 1,251.55 at close yesterday.
Punjab National Bank traded up 1.74 per cent to quote at Rs 212.90 as against Rs 209.25 at close on Tuesday.
The markets maintained their uptrend with the Sensex and the Nifty notching up substantial gains, riding on positive Asian cues. The Sensex gained more than a 100 points during the session to breach the 28,900 level, while the Nifty gained over 20 points to stand above the 8,700 level.
