Bharti Airtel surges nearly 3% on BSE

Telecom player Bharti Airtel was the top gainer on the BSE on Thursday, a day after the BSE Sensex lost nearly 500 points in a sell-off sparked by a rout in the Chinese market. At 10.20 am Bharti Airtel was trading at Rs 441.70, a gain of 2.88 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 429.35.

BHEL steamed up 2.64 per cent to quote at Rs 261.95. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 255.20.

Larsen & Toubro rode up 1.78 per cent to trade at Rs 1,836.45 against Rs 1,804.30 at close on Wednesday.

Hindalco Industries spiked up 1.23 per cent at Rs 103. The share had closed yesterday’s session at Rs 101.75.

Tata Steel was the other metal stock in the limelight, climbing up 1.22 per cent to quote at Rs 286.85. The share had closed yesterday’s session at Rs 283.40.
