Hindustan Unilever was the top gainer on the NSE at the close on Wednesday. It was trading at Rs 941.95, up 5.19 per cent on its previous close at Rs 895.45.
Bharti Airtel rode up 3.97 per cent to trade at Rs 369. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 354.90.
Bank of Baroda, Punjab National Bank and HDFC held on to their firm undertone near the close. BoB was trading at Rs 1,127.90 as against Rs 1,086.80 at close yesterday. This was a gain of 3.78 per cent.
PNB spurted 3.23 per cent to trade at Rs 216 as against Rs 209.25 at close yesterday.
HDFC gained 2.85 per cent at Rs 1,287.20 as against Rs 1,251.55 at close on Tuesday.
