Metal shares and in particular Sesa Sterlite was on a roll in late session on the bourses on New Year’s Day.
At 2.50 pm Sesa Sterlite held gains of 2.17 per cent to trade at Rs 219.15 on the NSE. The share had ended the overnight session at Rs 214.50.
Bharti Airtel was also broadly firmer, trading at Rs 360.20. This represented a gain of 2.13 per cent on its Wednesday close at Rs 352.70.
Jindal Steel vaulted up 1.84 per cent to trade at Rs 154.65 as against Rs 151.85 at close yesterday.
NMDC was trading at Rs 147.55. This was a gain of 1.76 per cent on its previous close at Rs 145.
IndusInd Bank was quoting at Rs 813.25. This represented a gain of 1.35 per cent on its Wednesday close at Rs 802.45.
