The Competition Commission of India has given its nod for French bank BNP Paribas’ proposed acquisition of online broking firm Sharekhan. “CCI India approves acquisition of Sharekhan by BNP Paribas SA,” the fair trade regulator tweeted on Tuesday.
On July 30 this year, BNP Paribas had said, “Sharekhan will join BNP Paribas’ Personal Investors division, which is a key player in retail brokerage and digital banking services with 1.7 million clients in Europe.” While the deal size was not disclosed, it was estimated at about ₹2,200 crore.
