BPCL flared up 2.78 per cent on the NSE on Monday morning. At 11.20 am it was trading at Rs 745.05 as against Rs 724.90 at close last Friday.
Tata Motors also traded on a firm wicket, posting gains of 2.17 per cent to trade at Rs 577.85. The share had closed last week’s session at Rs 565.55.
Bharti Airtel was broadly firm, quoting at Rs 362.30. This represented a gain of 2.06 per cent on its previous close at Rs 355.
Hindustan Unilever was up 2.04 per cent at Rs 911.05 as against Rs 892.80 at close last Friday.
ITC gained 1.75 per cent to trade at Rs 384.65 as against Rs 378.05 at close yesterday.
The Sensex and the Nifty carried their recent firm undertone into trading on Monday. The markets were buoyed by expectations for a growth-oriented Budget and robust numbers recorded by some of the blue-chips. While the Sensex gained over 150 points to trade above the 29,250 level, the NSE gained over 40 points to trade near the 8,850 level.
