BPCL emerged the top gainer on the NSE at mid-session on Thursday. At 11.50 am it was trading at Rs 743.20, up 1.86 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 729.65.
Tata Steel spiked up 1.50 per cent to quote at Rs 373 as against Rs 367.50 at the close yesterday.
Infosys gained 1.25 per cent to trade at Rs 2,325.20. The share had closed the overnight session at Rs 2,296.50.
Asian Paints maintained its firm undertone to quote at Rs 830.90. This was up 1.20 per cent on its Wednesday close at Rs 821.05.
Maruti Suzuki was on a firm footing, trading at Rs 3,600.05 as against Rs 3,564.95 at close yesterday. The share gained 0.98 per cent during the session.
HDFC built gains of 0.89 per cent at Rs 1,340.45 as against Rs 1,328.60 at close on Wednesday.
The benchmark indices shed most of their early gains on heavy selling of banking, FMCG, infrastructure and power sector stocks on mixed Asian cues. Near the mid-session, the Sensex was down over 100 points at the 29,200 level, while the Nifty lost 40 points to hover above the 8,820 mark.
