Cipla extended its recent firm run on the bourses to emerge the top gainer on the BSE in late trading on Tuesday. At 2.40 p.m. the pharma stock was quoting at Rs 409.65, up 1.75 per cent on its previous close of Rs 402.60.
Banking sector stock HDFC traded steady to hold gains of 0.77 per cent. It was trading at Rs 825.15 as against its overnight close of Rs 818.85.
Infosys also made some gains on a day when the sectoral index for IT stocks was down sharply. Infosys was quoting at Rs 3,688.90 as against Rs 3,665.70, a gain of 0.63 per cent.
Reliance Industries was trading at Rs 883.50, up 0.51 per cent on Monday's close of Rs 879.
Dr Reddy's Laboratories joined Cipla among the top gainers on the BSE. Dr Reddy's was trading at Rs 2,640 as against Rs 2,628.25 at close yesterday. This represented a gain of 0.45 per cent.
