Suven Life Sciences has got a product patent in the US for a new chemical entity used in the treatment of disorders associated with neurodegenerative diseases. The patent is for mechanism of action and includes selective 5HT6 compounds being developed as therapeutic agents useful in the treatment of cognitive impairment associated with neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer’s, attention deficient hyperactivity disorder, Huntington’s disease, major depressive disorder, Parkinson’s and schizophrenia, the company said in an exchange filing on Monday. The patent is valid till 2034. Including this new patent, Suven Life now has 25 patents in the US, said Suven. Shares of the company climbed 1.24 per cent at ₹179.05 on the NSE.

MEP Infrastructure Developers on Monday said BSR & Co LLP has expressed its inability to continue as the company’s joint statutory auditors due to substantial increase in the cost estimate compared with the audit fees. Gokhale & Sathe, Chartered Accountants, will continue to be statutory auditors, the company said in an exchange filing. Shares of the company were down 2.4 per cent at ₹41.1 on the NSE.

Mercator on Monday informed the exchanges that its subsidiary Mercator Petroleum has been awarded two oil blocks in the Cambay Basin under the government’s New Exploration Licensing Policy VII. The company said the Directorate-General of Hydrocarbons (DGH) has cleared a certificate to facilitate procurement of material and services for future drilling campaigns. Mercator Petroleum is taking steps to expedite the balance minimum work programme. This will be in addition to four wells in the CB 9 block, which MPL has already completed. Shares of Mercator were up 1.1 per cent at ₹45.55 on the NSE.
