Cummins India (CIL) has confirmed that the proposal for closure of the generator assembly plant at Pirangut, Pune, is under consideration. The low-kVA gensets for the domestic market being assembled at the Pirangut plant will be outsourced for contract manufacturing and will be sold through CIL to better manage its operating costs. The clarification follows various queries from analysts and investors after Cummins Inc’s earnings calls on the Nasdaq.
