Shares of Essar Energy and Vodafone Group Plc, on Wednesday surged nearly 2 per cent on the London Stock Exchange, a day after they disclosed their earnings.
Vodafone Group was trading at 172.85 pence with gains of 1.86 per cent on the London Stock Exchange, while shares of Essar Energy rose 1.46 per cent to 430.70 pence on the LSE.
Essar Energy yesterday said it had achieved a “solid operating performance” in the first three months of the year and reported a 50 per cent jump in gross refining margins.
Ignoring a decline in Vodafone’s profit, shares of the global telecom company rose as it posted good sales numbers in 2010-11.
